Our vision for Sutton in relation to development is to preserve the rural nature of the village keeping the existing small village size with a clear separation from surrounding villages and other developed areas. The roads within the village should be quiet, existing green spaces retained, with trees and traditional walls maintained. This vision is entirely aligned with the existing Sutton Conservation Area designated in 1979.
Throughout the planning process we will engage regularly with the community and ensure that in preparing the Plan for acceptance (by the City Council) the diverse needs of the community are taken into account.
The Plan will create a suite of policies that complements existing local, national and strategic planning policy, and which provides additional detail and subtlety to reflect the special characteristics of Sutton that cannot reasonably be addressed by higher-level policy.
It can also help to secure any infrastructure change that may be needed to support sustainable growth and protect areas, landmarks and services that are most important to the community.
